Our "IN HEAT" charge for female patients is being changed to "ABNORMAL UTERUS" due to recent quetions about the charge. The charge referred to abnormalities in the uterus due to a heat cycle, recent parturition/whelping, lactation, engorged blood vessels, fragile uterus, pyometra, hydrometra, etc. These are unforseen conditions in the female anatomy that make the surgery difficult and involves extra time spent on anesthesia, surgery, extra suture and delicate maneuvering of the uterus. We apologize for any confusion that this generalized term has caused and we're more than glad to answer any questions you may have about your pet's surgery.
